The traffic signal at Eagle and Franklin roads was damaged in a crash last night. ACHD plans to put up a temporary signal until the damaged one can be replaced.
MERIDIAN -- Police now say a 16-year-old died when he slammed his SUV into a semi truck in the early morning hours of Tuesday.
Officers say Caleb J. Quimby of Meridian died when his Chevrolet Blazer hit the Food Services of America trailer truck at the intersection of Franklin and Eagle roads.
Quimby was a student at Central Academy High School in Meridian.
Idaho State Police say it has not yet been determined if Quimby was involved in a home invasion robbery that happened earlier the same night. Boise Police are investigating the possible connection.

Caleb Quimby, 16, of Meridian, died in a car crash Monday morning.
Troopers also say Quimby had a driver's training permit which required him to have an adult over the age of 21 in the car with him while driving. Quimby was alone in the car at the time of the crash.
Police say Quimby was driving at speeds in excess of 70 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
The intersection was closed for nearly eight hours while emergency crews put out the fire, attended to the crash victims and investigators tried to piece together what happened.
The accident uprooted a stoplight at the intersection - causing major traffic delays and closures Tuesday. The intersection is mostly open again today - with temporary measures in place.
ACHD will replace a damaged signal along with the pedestrian signal with permanent signals, but that could take up to a month due to the extent of the damage.
In the meantime, the temporary signal will fill the role of a permanent signal. The cost of the accident damage to the traffic signal is estimated to be in the tens of thousands, but no exact cost has been determined yet.
