BOISE - Police are trying to find out who killed a Boise man – found dead in his apartment with several stab wounds.
It happened at the Eagleson apartments off Overland near Curtis.
For hours officers could not go inside the home as they waited to get a search warrant. They finally entered the apartment just after 9pm.
That victim is 26-year old Fernando Bayesteros. He has been living at this apartment complex for about a year -- and we believe he was living with his cousin.
Bayesteros is part of a contest here in Idaho, called Buscando una Estrella. It is a local Spanish language version of American Idol.
People who knew Bayesteros cannot believe this happened, and now friends are trying to help police figure out who may have killed Ballasteros.
His friends stopped by the apartment after not hearing from the man for some time.
"The people that called us had to force their way into the apartment in order to locate him and call us and they called us immediately,” Cpt. Eugene Smith with Boise Police said.
Police are looking for a person of interest and they believe if they find this vehicle they may get more answers.
"I was just coming home for lunch and officers stopped at the beginning of the street and they talked and they sped down there street and eventually more officers started showing up,” neighbor Amanda Williams said.
They are looking for a maroon 1994 Mitsubishi Galant – with Ada County license plate 1A JP908.
Ballesteros is originally from Mexico -- but has been living in Boise for about a year now.
He was scheduled to perform at the contest -- this Sunday at the O'Conner Field House in Caldwell.
