A memorial is being held Sunday to honor Eagle High baseball coach Emil Drzayich who died Friday after the team's game.
EAGLE -- Players and friends gathered last night to remember an Eagle High School baseball coach who died suddenly after a game last week.
Hundreds of people attended a memorial service at the Eagle High baseball field for 53-year-old Emil Drzayich.
Drzayich had been an assistant baseball coach at Eagle High for the past 10 years.
After last Friday’s game, he and several other coaches were in the team clubhouse, when they say Drzayich suddenly collapsed.
"Emil passed after a ball game in the clubhouse and he didn't suffer, there were no symptoms prior to this, it was a good place if there is such a good place, so great, great man, best I’ve known," said Frank Wright, said Eagle High head baseball coach.
"It was nice to share some laughs and I felt it was nice to share the memory of Drzayich," said Ryan Brown, baseball player.
"Last piece of advice he ever gave me was to enjoy the moment and that's how he lived his life. He lived his life to make other people's lives better and he was really good at it," said Jesse Dodd, known Drzayich since Little League.
On Monday morning, the Ada County coroner released the cause of death. Erwin Sonnenberg says Drzayich died a natural death of hypertensive cardiovascular disease.
Coaches say the team will play their scheduled Monday game with one addition - memorial patches on their uniforms in honor of Drzayich.
