Paramedics loaded Kiss FM DJ "KeKe Luv" into an ambulance Wednesday afternoon after he completed 175 hours awake. He checked out OK, and was taken to a local hotel for some much needed sleep.
BOISE - The 103.3 Kiss FM (KSAS) DJ who stayed awake for 175 hours to help raise awareness for child abuse prevention got some unexpected recognition this morning: from Congress.
Steve Kicklighter – aka KeKe Luv completed the record-breaking stunt at 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. He broadcast morning, noon and night for more than seven days – getting a short rest once every eight hours.
Representative Mike Simpson lauded the feat this morning on the floor of the US House. “Thank you KeKe, thank you KSAS/103.3 FM and thank you to all the fans who offered support,” Simpson said. “I am so proud of your accomplishment, and I believe because of your efforts, the city of Boise and the nation are ready to take action to prevent and end child abuse.”
Station officials say Kicklighter is taking the day to sleep – and rest. This morning he called into the station’s morning show and said he “crashed” as soon as he reached a local hotel room. After the stunt ended, paramedics took him away in an ambulance and gave him a thorough check. He was not hospitalized.
Kicklighter will take the next week or so off, returning to the air Monday April 21st.
