Stuart Wolfer of Emmett was killed Sunday in a rocket attack in Baghdad.

BOISE -- An Army reservist has been killed in Baghdad.

Maj. Stuart A. Wolfer was assigned to the 11th Battalion, 104th Division when his unit came under mortar attack.

Another soldier, Col. Stephen K. Scott, who was assigned to the 356th Quartermaster Battalion in Laurel, Miss. also died in the attack.

Wolfer first served in Kuwait in 2004. He began a second tour of duty in December 2007.

He most recently resided in Emmett, Idaho, and worked for Thomson West Legal.

Wolfer attended Washington University in Missouri. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army in 1993.

Wolfer leaves behind a wife and three young daughters.

The following is a statement from his wife of six years, Lee Anne Wolfer –

“Stuart was one of the most dynamic men I’ve ever met, and anyone he knew would say the same about him.  He was straightforward, ethical and he stuck to the law.  He was special and he was loved.  He made a difference in peoples’ lives, and made a difference in how people dealt with one another.  He was forthright with people, and they respected that.  He was truly, truly a special, unique, dynamic man.  He was such a community person, and was active in the Emmett community and in our religious community.

“He was a very loving and amazing father.  He called his children beautiful because he said they looked like their mother.  He held his family foremost in his life.  When he’d drop his girls off at school, he’d say ‘I love you, beautifuls!’  He never made decisions without his wife, even the little ones, like whether or not to buy a new lawnmower.   We shared in what we did at the farm and shared in all of the decision making.  Stuart was an amazing man and will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched forever.”

A fund has been set up at local Wells Fargo Bank branches for Wolfer's three daughters.
