Victim's truck is missing

MERIDIAN - Police are investigating a possible homicide in a Meridian home.

Two people entered a house on W. Street Snyder and Ocean Avenue near Ten Mile Road in Meridian Sunday to feed a cat - when they discovered a body. The victim is described as a 45-year-old man - but further details on his identity have not yet been released.

Now police are trying to track down a pickup truck they say is missing from the home. The vehicle is a 1996 white Ford F-250 pickup truck with Idaho license plate KG 4024. Police say you should not approach the vehicle, but call dispatch if you spot the truck.

Meridian Police Chief Jeff Lavey described the scene as "bloody" and said there was obvious trauma to the man's head - but the exact cause of death is not yet known.

Due to the way the body was decomposing, Lavey said the crime likely occurred late Friday or Early Saturday.

Police say the people who found the body are friends of the victim, and were asked by other residents of the home to check on the cat.

"Apparently a couple of friends came over to feed the cat and upon entering the house they found the deceased male," Lavey said.

It isn't known if the victim lived in the home.

A victim witness coordinator was on the scene Sunday helping in the investigation.

Meridian Police and Idaho State Police's Crime Lab are working together on the case.
