BOISE – A bus driver accused of using a racial slur while kicking a Boise teen off the bus earlier this month has been cleared on any wrongdoing.
Valley Regional Transit spokesman Mark Carnopis said the bus driver will return to work Monday after a witness corroborated his story. He has been on paid administrative leave since the May 2nd incident.
The 14-year-old boy told friends and his mother that the driver kicked him off the bus for panhandling when the teen’s bus pass was expired and he asked others riders for bus fare. The boy said the driver called him the N-word as he left the bus.
Valley Regional Transit authorities met with boy and his mom a few days after the incident.
Carnopis says this is a serious allegation and a full investigation was conducted.
Although there will be no disciplinary action in this case, Carnopis says they plan to make racial sensitivity a part of their training in the future.
