Usful Glassworks closing at the end of May

The nonprofit is shutting down this month.

BOISE - After 7 years, Usful Glassworks in Boise will be closing its doors at the end of the month.

The nonprofit has provided job training, coaching and guidance for hundreds of people in the community and helped to recycle hundreds of thousands of glass bottles.

Leaders say more than $30,000 raised during a fundraiser in April and Idaho Gives will be used to pay final bills and help take care of employees.

"We're all devastated but what I'm trying to do as a leader of the organization is just remind all the people who care about Usful Glassworks of what we've been able to accomplish in the last seven-and-a-half years," said executive director Carlyn Blake.

Usful Glassworks will be working to fulfill pending orders through the 25th.

All remaining stock, equipment and office furniture is on sale.

If you'd like to take a look, the store will remain open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
