Treasure Valley helps 'Stuff the Bus' for needy families

Valley Regional Transit buses were parked outside seven Fred Meyer locations Saturday, encouraging shoppers to buy new, unwrapped toys for kids who may not have a Christmas otherwise.

BOISE -- Treasure Valley residents flocked to local Fred Meyer stores for the 19th annual 'Stuff the Bus' toy drive.

Valley Regional Transit buses were parked outside seven Fred Meyer locations Saturday, encouraging shoppers to buy new, unwrapped toys for kids who may not have a Christmas otherwise.

Salvation Army Major Bob Lloyd says the community needs to make sure no kid has been forgotten this Christmas.

"The need continues to grow a little bit we have folks who are struggling with increases in rent that seems too big thing this year and of course, as it gets colder, folks have utility bills that are coming up, so a lot of families are really stretched financially," said Major Lloyd.

This year, over 10,300 toys were donated.

The toys will delivered to the Boise and Nampa Salvation Army distribution centers, then distributed to families in need across the Treasure Valley.
