Snowmaking started at Eagle terrain park

EAGLE - If you are itching to get skiing or snowboarding without going to the mountains, Gateway Terrain Parks at Eagle Island is going to start filling the park with snow soon.

The park now has a permanent power source so they can consistently run their four snow guns.

There is no natural snow on the ground right now, but the park's owner Ryan Neptune says that is actually ideal.

“We actually prefer to not have any snow and just make all our own snow,” said Neptune. “Manmade snow is denser and does not melt anywhere near as fast as snow from Mother Nature.”

Gateway Parks ran the snow guns for about 10 hours Monday night to test them, and it went well. So now the snow guns will run for the next 4 or 5 days to build up the snow.

The park is expected to open next week.
