Shoes and socks donation to Taft Elementary

BOISE - A tremendous giveaway of shoes and socks at Taft Elementary School put many smiles on student's faces today.

It was all thanks to the generosity of the Krazy Coupon ladies, who are best known for teaching people across the country how to save money by using coupons.

They donated 370 pairs of shoes, along with a pack of socks, to every student.

They said once they found out that many of the children at the school are refugees, they decided to lend a helping hand.

"Kids were thrilled to death, and unfortunately I didn't get to go down but I just heard from one of our teachers that kindergarten it was like Christmas morning,” said Principal Tim Lowe. “When they got back to the rooms and opened up their boxes, they were all holding their shoes up in the air, and waving, and clapping, it's very exciting for all of us."

The children earned their shoes and socks by walking or running a minimum of two miles over the last couple of weeks.
