BPD: Cyclist hit after riding out in front of car

BOISE -- A 55-year-old man was taken to the hospital after he was hit by a car in downtown Boise Tuesday morning.

The collision happened just before 8 a.m. at the intersection of 15th and River streets.

According to Boise Police, the man was riding a bicycle north on River Street when he was hit by the eastbound car. The cyclist was in the crosswalk at the time, but police say the car had a green light and the cyclist was crossing against a red "do not walk" signal.

The 55-year-old was not wearing a helmet, and was taken by ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries.

The woman driving the car was not injured.
