BOISE - The 10th annual bike giveaway is just a few weeks away!
This year the Boise Bicycle Project hopes to donate 400 bikes to kids in need.
The event is on December 17th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Lusk Street.
Children ages 2 - 11 are signed up for the giveaway and were nominated by local community partners, non-profit organizations, teachers and coaches.
“And for a lot of these kids, they've never had a bicycle before,” said Executive Director Jimmy Hallyburton. “This is really more than a bike, it's their tool that's connecting them to the community, it's giving them freedom, it's giving them independence. So we always tell people it's so much more than a bike."
All bikes are welcome for donation, no matter what condition they are in.
Right now 250 bikes are fixed up and ready to go, but they still have a lot of work left to do.
If you want to donate a bike you can drop it off at their location or contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
