Miracle Field honors donors with monument

The baseball field is a place where special needs kids can come to play.

PAYETTE – There was a big celebration in Payette today marking the one-year anniversary of the opening of Harmon Killebrew’s Miracle Field.

In honor of that anniversary there was the unveiling of a monument built to recognize community members who donated $10,000 or more to make this dream a reality.

The field behind McCain Middle School is designed to accommodate people who have special needs or disabilities -- allowing them to enjoy the game of baseball at no cost to their families.

In all, $385,000 in cash and in-kind donations made it possible to start a Miracle League program in Payette.

The official Miracle League season begins in June.
