McCall man killed in crash with dump truck

BOISE -- A 70-year-old McCall man has died after crashing into a dump truck, according to Idaho State Police.

The accident happened on Highway 55 near the town of Lake Fork Thursday afternoon.

Police say Jay Murphy was southbound in a 2007 Toyota Rav4 around 1:30 p.m. when he veered across traffic and struck a 1989 Peterbuilt dump truck driven by 57-year-old Michael Conaway of New Meadows.

Murphy was wearing a seatbelt and the airbags in his vehicle did deploy, however he died at the scene.

Conaway was also wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt in the crash.

Highway 55 was blocked for about four hours while troopers investigated the crash.
