Jerome man killed in I-84 crash

TWIN FALLS -- One driver lost his life Thursday in a three-vehicle wreck east of Twin Falls.

The crash happened at 8:12 p.m. on I-84 near milepost 175.

Idaho State Police say 24-year-old Minnie Vangorder of Elko, Nevada was headed westbound when she rear-ended a  Ford Ranger pickup ahead of her.

The pickup, driven by 63-year-old Randy Hansen of Jerome, swerved through the median and into the eastbound lanes of I-84, where it struck an oncoming minivan driven by 53-year-old Sheri Christensen of Soda Springs.

Both Hansen and Christensen were taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls, where Hansen died from his injuries.

Police say Vangorder and Christensen were wearing seatbelts; Hansen was not.

The crash blocked one lane of eastbound I-84 for more than four hours. The wreck remains under investigation by ISP.
