Standoff suspect booked into Kootenai Co. jail for 21st time

RATHDRUM, Idaho – Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies and SWAT arrested a man Friday morning who was wanted for a probation violation.

Deputies responded to a home on N. Idaho Road near W. Highway 53 around 9:50 a.m. after receiving a report that Dustin Hieronymus, 36, was inside the home. Officials said he had a probation violation warrant for an arrest stemming from an aggravated assault charge.

When deputies arrived on scene, they said another person in the house exited and told them Hieronymus was inside. Authorities said Hieronymus refused to exit the home.

After a long standoff with deputies, the Kootenai County Joint Agency SWAT team was called in. Hieronymus surrendered to the SWAT team shortly after and was arrested.

Authorities said this was the 21st time Hieronymus was booked into the Kootenai County Public Safety Building.
