COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – A new bar in Coeur d’Alene has been open for only a few weeks and is getting a lot of attention for things that they said on Monday they have been doing to set themselves apart from others in the industry.
The food and beverage industry does not allow many mistakes and comes with a lot of risks, but the owners of Victory said they are taking that risk head on.
“We look at ourselves as more of an entertainment company than a bar company,” Rob Berger, the owner of Victory said.
Berger said the success lies in a more modern approach to social entertainment. While the bartenders shuffle and classic drinks can draw a crowd – it could be the 165-inch LED video wall and iPads that keep customers coming back.
“We have 50 rotating beers on tap,” Berger said.
With a few swipes, ex-software developer said he has his customer’s full attention. He said not only can they view the full menu, they can get a breakdown of what each item offers, while getting ads on upcoming events right in the palm of their hands.
“I don’t really know if there’s a good reason why others don’t do it or haven’t become more tech focused,” Berger said, “but I think there’s a big opportunity for people out there to really make this industry more efficient.”
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, 90 percent of restaurants and bars fail within a year of opening. Berger though, said he has had great success with his first bar, Crafted Tap House, and believes Victory will be just as popular.
“We have a culture here at Crafted and Victory that is really special,” he said.
