Deputies rescue man who fell down Idaho mountainside

SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho – The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they had to rescue a man who had fallen off of a mountainside on Monday.

Deputies said the 74-year-old man was rescued from Calder Mountain following a hunting accident.

Witnesses told KREM 2 News that the man spent 10 hours at the bottom of a ravine before he was rescued by helicopter.

The man's daughter said he and his girlfriend were attempting to retrieve an elk they had shot. The elk rolled down a steep ravine, and the man fell while retrieving it.

His daughter told KREM 2 News that her dad suffered some breaks in his leg, but should be okay.

He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.
