Fatal car crash victim leaves behind struggling family

A Caldwell man is reaching out after a deadly crash.

CALDWELL - Last month we reported a fatal car crash in Canyon County that took the life of Angel Camacho Gonzalez.

A memorial service was held in his honor Friday and a local man unknown to the family before the tragedy is now trying to help during this difficult time.

The accident happened on Homedale and Farmway roads in Caldwell, and at least one of the cars involved struck a fence on Doug Hayes’ property.

Hayes was home at the time and rushed to the scene.

He saw that Gonzalez had been killed.

After losing his own son in a car accident, Hayes felt compelled to help.

He reached out to Gonzalez’s family and learned his wife is eight months pregnant and has two other children.

Hayes says the family is now without income and needs help.

“So you ask me why I’m involved? It happened on my property, I happened to be there, but they are good people that just need help,” said Hayes.

Hayes sat up a GoFundMe account for Gonzalez's family, which can be found here.
