Environmentalists reopen Atlanta Gold lawsuit

Two environmental groups have reopened their lawsuit against the Atlanta Gold Corporation -- the operator of a mine near the headwaters of the Boise River.

The Idaho Conservation League and Northwest Environmental Defense Center claim that the company has violated a 2012 federal court order by failing to make scheduled payments on a penalty for violating the Clean Water Act.

The lawsuit also asks the court to order Atlanta Gold to implement a new plan to reduce the discharge of arsenic and iron.
