Caldwell woman found dead after car rolls into ditch

CALDWELL -- The Canyon County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a Caldwell woman was found dead inside an upside-down car Tuesday morning.

The sheriff's office on Wednesday identified the driver as 26-year-old Christina Northrop.

The crashed Ford Focus was discovered at about 7 a.m. by a passerby, who called authorities. Emergency responders searched the car and found the only occupant - Northrop - dead inside.

Sheriff's officials estimate Northrop wrecked at about 11:30 p.m. Monday. Investigators say the Ford Focus was headed westbound on Howe Road at Texas Road when Northrop went off the right side of the road, overcorrected and lost control. The car veered off the left side of the road and flipped, landing on its roof in the Dixie Slough ditch.

No other vehicles are believed to be involved in the wreck. It's unclear what caused Northrop to lose control.

The crash remains under investigation by the Canyon County Sheriff's Office and the Canyon County Coroner’s Office.
