Driver pulled from pickup after crash into pond

Pickup crashes into pond, driver taken to hospital

ADA COUNTY -- A 21-year-old man was pulled from a pickup after he crashed off the road and into a pond Tuesday morning, the Ada County Sheriff's Office said.

The wreck was reported at 11:05 a.m. near the intersection of Chinden Boulevard and Highway 16.

According to the sheriff's office, the pickup was headed south on the highway when it veered off the road. Tire tracks in the dirt show where the vehicle veered down a small hill and through a barbed wire fence before entering the water.

The man inside the vehicle was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. It is not clear whether he is alive, or how long he was underwater before fire crews got to him. The man's identity has not been released.

The pickup has been pulled out of the water, according to the sheriff's office.

Witnesses say the driver was the only one in the truck when it entered the water, and divers did not find anyone else in the pond.
