COUNCIL -- Two people were injured in a pileup on U.S. 95 Tuesday afternoon.
The wreck happened near Council at 3:11 p.m.
According to Idaho State Police, 79-year-old Evert Miller of Council was driving north in a Chevrolet 200 when he attempted to turn into the chain-up area. As he turned, Miller's car was rear-ended by 82-year-old Edith Schwartz of Council, who had been driving behind him in a Subaru Legacy.
The impact of the crash pushed Miller's car into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a Ford Escape driven by 51-year-old Corina Boatwright of Meridian.
Boatwright's SUV slid sideways and rolled, coming to rest on its wheels.
Miller was taken by ambulance to Weiser Memorial Hospital. His passenger, 77-year-old Lorraine Miller, was airlifted to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
Neither Schwartz nor Boatright were hurt, police say. Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt.
The wreck blocked the highway for two and a half hours.
