Nampa man claims big lottery jackpot

BOISE - A trip to the gas station turned into big money for Charles Goede.

The Nampa man stopped at the Jacksons on Cherry Lane in Meridian Sunday. While there he bought several tickets for the Idaho Lottery’s Big Money Jackpot game.

After winning smalls amounts on several tickets, he decided to fill up his car. Once he was finished refueling, he returned to the store to buy one more ticket. And that ticket turned out to be the jackpot winner.

“Now that’s how you win!”  said Goede when presented with his winning check for $134,715 at the Idaho Lottery offices in Boise Monday morning.

Lottery officials say his prize is the largest jackpot in the history of the Big Money Jackpot game.

Goede said he plans to pay off his wife’s new vehicle and buy himself a new vehicle. He’ll put the remainder in savings.
