Volunteers rake leaves for 900 homeowners

Volunteers raked autumn leaves from the yards of more than 900 senior citizens and people with disabilities who could really use the help.

BOISE - You may have noticed a lot of people spending Saturday morning and afternoon raking up leaves around Boise and Garden City.

Thousands of people volunteered for the 31st annual Rake Up Boise event, raking up leaves for more than 900 senior citizens and people with disabilities.

“They do fantastic work, and I am just so pleased that they would come here and do such wonderful things for our community and for us,” Reba Robinson said.

“We are so happy to have these people come out,” Ed Robinson said. “It’s a great service, and we just really appreciate it.”

Along with helping people such as the Robinsons, who needed and really appreciated the helping hands, organizers say Rake Up Boise is a way to bring different community groups together through service.

Rake Up Boise is organized by NeighborWorks Boise.
