Buckle up for Bobby

BOISE -- A tragedy that claimed the life of two Mountain View High School students last fall is now the motivator for a new program, aimed at keeping other young drivers safe.

On Tuesday night, eight Idaho students were awarded the first Bobby Rogers & Tiffany Walters Memorial Scholarships.

The event at Meridian City Hall was sponsored by the Buckle Up for Bobby, a non-profit organization.

Each scholarship was created to encourage safe driving habits among young drivers and passengers.

Last September, when 16-year-old Bobby Rogers and a classmate, 17-year-old Tiffany Walters, both of Mountain View High School, died in a rollover crash near Table Rock.

Neither were wearing their seatbelts.

A requirement for the scholarship is that applicant's participate in the Alive at 25 program.
