Brundage hopes to attract more summer visitors with expansion

MCCALL -- Brundage Mountain is giving themselves a nearly half-million dollar makeover!

The mountain resort in McCall is expanding its lodge. The resort is also adding more summer time activities to attract visitors.

Brundage Mountain began expanding and upgrading in 2011. But now the final phase of the project is underway.

The biggest difference people will notice to the expanded lodge are the ticket windows. Visitors will no longer have to climb about three flights of stairs to buy lift tickets. The new ticket windows will be located just steps away from the parking lot for easier access.

The expansion will nearly double the size of the rental shop and retail areas.

Brundage Mountain is also adding two new decks to the south and southeast sides of the lodge for outside table service.

Part of the new deck space will be finished and ready to go in time for Brundage's summer season, which kicks off later this month.

We have chair lift rides and lifts for mountain biking every Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting June 27, said April Whitney, communications director for Brundage Mountain. Middle of the summer we're going to add some disk golf and put in a nature trail. So people are really going to find a lot more things to do up here and then enjoy one of the best restaurants in town.

The half-million dollar project also includes 2,000 feet of indoor seating space, a cafe and expanding Smoky's Bar and Grill -- all of which has already been completed.

But the resort is really excited about the new, outdoor deck space and adding more summer time activities -- hoping to attract visitors, year round.
