Boise teen's car rolls after striking moose

CASSIA COUNTY -- Three people were injured Friday night when a teen driver slammed into a moose that was standing in the roadway.

Police say the crash happened at about 10:30 p.m. in Cassia County. 16-year-old Jordan Clark of Boise was heading eastbound on I-86 when he hit the moose. The Honda Accord went off the right shoulder and rolled, police say.

Clark and one passenger, 56-year-old Norma Clark of Boise, were taken by ambulance to Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley. Another passenger, a girl under the age of 18, was airlifted to Portneuf Regional Medical Center in Pocatello. Police have not released the girl's age or name.

All three people in the car were wearing seatbelts, police say. The moose was killed on impact.

The eastbound lanes of the interstate were blocked for about two hours. The crash remains under investigation.
