Boise school celebrates Red Ribbon Week

BOISE - Liberty Elementary School celebrated Red Ribbon Week with an assembly this morning teaching kids how to stay drug free.

The theme is "My Character Counts, I Am Drug Free."

The goal is to teach students about the importance of their character.

Kids got to dress up as their favorite character from TV shows, books, or movies.

The assembly featured a skit put on by teachers showing kids how drugs can impact their lives.

Teachers played different roles-- one played someone addicted to drugs. the other played someone who has never tried a drug.

"Someone who does drugs doesn't have a good future, like going to college, because I want to go to college like playing soccer, and when you don't do drugs, you can grow up to be like someone famous," said sixth grader Dominic Paz.

Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign that aims to teach kids how to live a drug-free life.
