Boise Rescue Mission holds pinewood derby race

BOISE -- It seems that no one can resist a good pinewood car derby, but when the event gives back to our community -- everybody wins.

The Boise Rescue Mission sponsored their second annual rescue car derby.

They are raising funds, donations and canned food from anyone that wants to donate to the case.

Then it was a chance to put your rescue car to the test.

There were some great racers from young to old.

The end result is helping to feed the hungry in our community.

"We have about 20 people that are competing, and we have some organizations who have sponsored our kids and sponsored the actual racing itself. All the money that's been raised is going to help homeless and hungry people here in the Treasure Valley," said Megan Korthals.

In 2013, the Boise Rescue Mission helped to provide over 340,000 meals to our community's needy through events like this one.
