BOISE - The City of Boise announced Tuesday that it is moving the annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration from Ann Morrison Park to Expo Idaho.
As KTVB reported last week, flooding along the Boise River, including in Ann Morrison Park where the popular fireworks show usually takes place, had Parks and Rec officials looking at alternatives.
The move became necessary due to ongoing wet and soggy conditions at the park, and concerns over possible further damage to the park from the expected large crowds.
“The fireworks celebration is such a special thing we do here in Boise, we were absolutely committed to making sure it happened,” said Boise Mayor David Bieter, in a statement. “We appreciate Ada County and Garden City working with the city to ensure this year’s event quickly found a new home at Expo Idaho."
The gates at Expo Idaho will open to the public at 6 p.m. The event is free, and the fireworks will be synced to music on 107.1 K-Hits.
