Boise driver dies in wrong-way interstate crash

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - One driver is dead and another is seriously injured after a head-on crash on Interstate 84 Saturday morning.

Idaho State Police say 31-year-old Kelly Berry of Boise was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes when the wreck happened in Mountain Home at about 1 a.m.

Berry's 2000 Saturn slammed head-on into a Chevy pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Anthony Benavidez of Hazelton.

Berry died instantly, police say. Benavidez was airlifted to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

Police say Berry was wearing a seatbelt when the collision happened, but Benavidez was not. The crash remains under investigation.
