Boise apartment fire puts one person in hospital

BOISE - Residents of an eight-unit apartment complex in the Central Bench area of Boise are displaced after a fire that destroyed at least two units Saturday night.

It happened on Camas Lane, between Orchard and Hilton streets. Boise Fire Battalion Chief Tom Lovell says the fire started in a first-floor apartment and spread upward.

One person was transported to the hospital. The extent of that person’s injuries is not known. Others were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Several Boise Fire Dept. units were called to the scene. Lovell said firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames.

“Our guys came in and this is what we train for,” Lovell said. “They mitigated the fire quickly and effectively, and got water on the fire right away. They made a really good stop on this fire. It could have been much, much worse.”

The Boise Firefighters Local 149 Burnout Fund was at the scene to assist people displaced by the fire.

Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
