Artisans For Hope hosts open house for Small Business Saturday

Artisans for Hope in Boise sells products made by people who came here as refugees.

One of the Boise shops that opened its doors for Small Business Saturday was Artisans For Hope, which sells products made by people who came to Idaho as refugees.

“We work with them on sewing skills, knitting skills, and marketing and sales classes,” said Carrie Utley of Artisans For Hope. “While they’re here, we work on English-learning skills, and really, it’s just to provide a sense of community and belonging for new members of our community.”

Seventy-five percent of the proceeds from each sale goes back to the person who made the product. The other 25 percent goes toward offsetting the cost of materials.
