Another trailer park closing in Garden City

The owner said he can't afford to keep the trailer park open.

GARDEN CITY - Several families in Garden City aren't sure where they're going to be living tomorrow.

They are being evicted from their homes after the trailer park they live in has been sold.

The trailer park’s owner tells KTVB that condos are going to be built on the site. Larry Weeks says he feels sorry for the people who live here, but he just can't afford to keep running this park.

People who live at Tammy Trailer Park say they understand that.

They got a written eviction notice dated Sept. 15.

Some say they've been looking for a new place to live, but they haven't had enough time to save up for the move.

"It's been a month, but like I said, we've all been trying to look and find different locations, it's kind of hard to find a place in a month, save the money up, because you have to have a deposit and all that other stuff you know," said Adrean Devereaux who lives at Tammy Trailer Park.

“I do feel sorry and they have cheap rent after a while,” said Weeks. “That's what most of the tenants are saying when they're looking for a place, there ain’t nothing that cheap anymore. But that's just the way it is, I can't keep it open."

We talked to quite a few people today, and even though they're all in different situations, they did all say that the property owner has always gone above and beyond to help them.
