Albertsons makes big Thanksgiving food donation

The donations will help feed 2,800 Idaho families.

BOISE - Thanksgiving is now just a week away, and with the help of Albertsons and generous customers many families will enjoy a holiday meal.

As part of the "Turkey Bucks" campaign, Albertsons shoppers added to their purchase totals to donate $1, $5 or $10 to Idaho families in need.

Their donations were put together to provide a new record of 2,800 Thanksgiving meals to Idaho families.

The first shipment of those meals arrived at the Idaho Foodbank today.

"We are so appreciative that organizations like Albertsons recognize that they can be a part of giving back to the communities,” said Karen Vauk, Idaho Foodbank President and CEO. “We need to make sure the families have that chance to enjoy the holiday tradition, we need to make sure that the children have that healthy nutritious food.”

The Turkey Bucks campaign beat last year's meal count by over 500 meals.
