BOISE -- A brush fire near the headquarters of Micron Technology, Inc. blackened 2,600 acres after igniting Tuesday afternoon just to the north of the Eisenman Road Interchange -- coming within a half a mile of Micron's Boise campus.
Firefighters from the Bureau of Land Management extinguished much of the fire, and stopped its forward progress on Tuesday night, with some crews staying through the night to watch for hot spots.
BLM officials said the fire was contained at 1 p.m., and will be controlled later in the day.
Mallory Eils with the BLM says firefighters were able to keep the flames from moving closer to Micron and nearby Interstate 84 thanks to the combined efforts of several firefighting agencies.
Eils said that at least 10 fire engines, and four helicopters fought the flames on Tuesday.
No buildings were threatened at Micron; however, firefighters did provide structure protection around a nearby rest stop.
Investigators suspect the fire was human caused.
