BOISE -- A program that helps victims of domestic and sexual violence find safety is getting a big boost.

The Women's and Children's Alliance operates Serena's House, which now houses 19 women and 23 kids.

Serena's House has a small store where families can get new, donated household items when they're ready to move out on their own again.

Today, UPS presented a $5,000 check, which will fund a remodel of that store.

The company awarded the money to the local UPS center in Garden City, as part of a grant program.

"With their time and the grant money they've gotten, they will be able to go in there and they will be able to tear out some walls that don't serve a purpose, they can do some painting and just update the inside and really make it a much more attractive space," said Bea Black, WCA Executive Director.

Local UPS workers are also donating time and labor to renovate the store.
