BOISE -- A cyclist was hit Friday night while riding on Vista Avenue.

Boise Police say a driver headed north on Vista suddenly drove into oncoming traffic onto the sidewalk, hit a man riding a bike, and then continued and hit a light pole.

Both the driver and the cyclist were taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is not known.

A witness, Bree Elliott, told KTVB what it was like right after the accident.

"I made him stay as still as possible.  Another girl grabbed his head and I grabbed his legs at that point.  And then somebody else had their hands on his belly, just trying to keep him as still as possible.  He kept trying to move his head."

Boise Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
