CALDWELL -- Two people are in custody after a high-speed chase in Canyon County this afternoon that involved a stolen SUV.
Around 3 p.m., officers located a 2001 Ford Expedition that had been reported stolen in the area of Marble Front and North Illinois.
The driver, who was later identified as 38-year-old Francisco Pancho Bautista, attempted to elude police. He sped along Interstate 84 towards Nampa where Canyon County deputies used spike strips to deflate the tires of the SUV.
Sheriff's deputies, along with officers from Nampa and Caldwell, stopped the SUV on Caldwell Boulevard near Midland Boulevard in Nampa. Bautista and a female passenger, 27-year-old Kristie Davis, were arrested at scene without further incident.
Police says drugs and and drug paraphernalia were thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit. Those items were recovered on Ward Lane in Caldwell.
Bautista is a fugitive from the Idaho Department of Correction. He also has a $100,000 warrant out for his arrest in Canyon County.
Davis was also had two outstanding warrants.
Both were booked into the Canyon County Jail for grand theft by possession, felony eluding, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The case is still under investigation.
