MERIDIAN -- Dolphins are not native to Meridian, Idaho, obviously, but every year around this time, 10,000 versions of them race around Roaring Springs.

It was all a part of the 12th annual Great Dolphin Dunk to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Ada County.

The dolphins are sponsored, and the money raised goes to help pay kids' annual fees at the Clubs,  which are just $10 a year.

"Each year, our event raises about $30,000 to support kids at the Club, so if you do the math, that's a lot of kids that are supported by this event," said Colleen Braga, the executive director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Ada County

Also, the sponsors of the top three finishing dolphins won spectacular prizes. This year, that included Steve Jensen of Kuna, who won Roaring Springs season passes. Sara Hudson of Meridian won a year of free coffee from Dutch Brothers and Raelyn Jae Concepcion won one free year of oil changes from Heritage Auto.
