BOISE -- A Timberline High School senior was honored today with a surprise ceremony.

Boise Mayor Dave Bieter presented 18-year-old Clay Kenyon with a lifesaving commendation after he risked his own life to rescue a woman who had fallen into a canal.

Clay was riding his bike near Barber Park last month when he heard someone yelling for help.  That's when he saw a woman trapped in the New York Canal.

Clay jumped into the water and brought the 70-year-old woman to safety.

That woman, Jo Ann Conger, was at today's ceremony, where she continued to thank Clay for his heroic efforts.

"I just wanted to commend this young man for everything that life has to offer him, and then some, because he is a great young man," said Conger.

Conger says she was picking flowers when she fell into the canal. Still a little bruised up, she says she's on the mend.
