TWIN FALLS -- Police are asking for the community's help in finding a lost police-issued Taser. The Taser and its holster became dislodged from the duty belt of a Twin Falls officer and fell off sometime between 4:30 p.m. Friday and 1:30 a.m. Saturday, police said. The Taser was discovered missing late Saturday.
Police say they conducted two extensive searches for the equipment, but came up empty.
The Taser is a model X26 that is manufactured by TASER International and is sold exclusively to law enforcement agencies and the military. It can be identified by its distinctive bright yellow color. Police say it was last seen with its black, plastic holster and had two functioning cartridges with it.
Police are asking anyone with information on the Taser's whereabouts to call the department at 735-4357. Anyone in possession of the device is warned to use caution while handling it.
Twin Falls Police Captain Matthew Hicks said this is the first time a Taser has been lost or misplaced since the agency started using them in 2006. Hicks also said the department is conducting an investigation into the incident.
