BOISE -- Four Boise businesses on Franklin Road near Curtis Road were damaged by fire and heavy smoke this morning.
The two-alarm fire started at about 5:54 a.m. at the Vietnamese Restaurant.
The Boise Fire Department is still trying to determine what may have sparked the fire, but investigators say the restaurant is a total loss.
The Family Dollar Store and the Vets for Success Thrift Store next door both sustained heavy smoke damage. Sideshow Tattoo next door also had fire damage.
When crews arrived on the scene they saw flames and smoke shooting from the roof.
"The weren't extending terribly high, 30 feet at the peak, crews were trying to get in to the fire, very smokey and difficult to access," said Boise Fire Division Chief Bruce Rankin.
Rankin says stubborn flames were burning in the attic and firefighters had to dismantle the attic to get to the fire.
Eight engines were called to battle the fire. Crews had the fire under control by around 8 a.m.
Dani Vuong's parents own the restaurant. She says the family is still in shock.
"My heart sank. My parents put a lot of passion and time into this restaurant. This is what they wanted to do their whole lives and it's basically down the drain now," said Vuong.
Vuong says the family does have insurance, but it is too soon to say if they will rebuild.
