BOISE -- Sunday night, thousands of people across the Treasure Valley checked their tickets and hoped to be the lucky one who would win the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway.
For a $100 donation to support the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, ticket holders were entered into a drawing for some great prizes, including a new home valued at $350,000. As a bonus, people who were drawn for some of the smaller prizes got to go back into the running for the Dream Home.
All of the 7,777 tickets were sold for the drawing, which means that $777,700 was raised to help support the kids undergoing treatment at St. Jude's.
Winners were drawn live on KTVB as part of the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway Special.
Ann Zimmermaker of Boise was the winner of the St. Jude Dream Home. KTVB got Zimmermaker on the phone within minutes of the announcement.
"It's just such a total shock," she said. "It's a wonderful surprise, but it's a total shock."
While it was her first time winning the Dream Home, Zimmermaker has been purchasing tickets to support St. Jude for years.
"I've always donated to them and supported them," Zimmermaker said of the hospital that helps millions of children and never turns a patient away for an inability to pay.
