BOISE – There were some tense moments aboard a Southwest Airlines flight bound from Denver to Boise this morning after the plane blew a tire on departure.
Boise Airport spokeswoman Patti Miller says there was 134 passengers and five crew members onboard the 737-300.
She says the right main outboard tire blew out on departure and Denver Airport officials contacted their counterparts in Boise to alert them of the situation.
Emergency crews were put on alert and ready to respond on the runway when the plane landed just before noon.
Sheila Keim, one of the passengers, says she did not know there was an in-flight emergency until she heard one of the other passengers inquire about it. She says the flight crew kept calm and reassured everyone the plane would be able to land safely. And it did.
Miller says after quick visual safety inspection upon landing, the plane was able to taxi to the arrival gate and passengers deboarded.
