TWIN FALLS, Idaho -- A small company that wants to build a billion-dollar nuclear power plant in Idaho says it has signed an agreement to purchase 6,000 acres in Payette County.

Alternate Energy Holdings, Inc. announced on Wednesday it has purchased the land in a deal that includes water rights and transmission rights of way.

The company says the land is a "backup site."

The company is still trying to win approval to build a plant in Elmore County after ditching another proposed site in Owyhee County.
