BOISE COUNTY -- A Boise County Sheriff's deputy has been charged with driving under the influence after crashing his patrol car last Thursday.
Authorities says Deputy Nate Deuel was involved in a crash while off duty. It occurred on Porter Creek Road about four miles north of Horseshoe Bend at 3:23 a.m. on Oct. 27.
The deputy's patrol car was severely damaged after it went off the side of the road and rolled, ending up about 100 feet away in a pasture. No one else was in the car.
Deuel contacted his supervisor right away and reported the accident.
Boise County Sheriff Ben Roeber and Chief Deputy DW Rogers responded to the crash scene along with two Idaho State Police troopers.
Idaho State Police is handling the investigation.
Deuel was arrested for suspicion of DUI and transported to Gem County Jail.
Boise County Sheriff's Office is conducting internal investigation. Deuel is on paid administrative leave until that investigation is complete.
