ELMORE COUNTY -- Elmore County officials are searching for a family from Meridian after they didn't come home Sunday evening.

Sgt. Schultz with the Elmore County Sheriff's Office says 34-year-old Steven Rice, his wife, 33-year-old Heather Rice, and their two teenage children went hunting for the day and were expected to be back by 4 p.m. Sunday.

So far, there hasn't been any sign of the family.

Schultz says the family was traveling in a white 2007 Nissan Titan truck with license plates 1A TR344.

They had planned to go through Blacks Creek, Prairie, and the Middle Fork area.

A search for the truck by land began Monday morning. Elmore County says they would like to also search by air, but the windy conditions may not make that possible.

Elmore County Search and Rescue and  Idaho Fish and Game are assisting the sheriff's office and family members with the search.

This is the same area burned by the Elk and Pony complex fires.
